City Hall was extremely crowded today. Besides the NDP crowd, more than 5,000 Grassroots Leaders from all over Singapore also congregated at Suntec Convention Centre for the People's Association Grassroots Convention & Appreciation Dinner.
I came along with my fellow RC members, some of whom had not worn a tie for quite some time. I must admit the individual does look different when dressed up formally.
Also met up with Fred & Alex from Tiong Bahru Constituency:
PA Deputy Chairman, Minister Lim Boon Heng gave an opening address. In his speech, he mentioned that he initially did not buy into the idea of RC Floor Parties. However, after such parties were organised, he found it useful and had since been to more than 100 floor parties!
Floor parties are gatherings organised by the Residents' Committee (RC) for neighbours residing in the same floor or adjacent floors.
Considering the busy schedule of a Minister, attending 100 parties is really a feat!
Various Grassroots Leaders also shared about their best practices, namely in the areas of Integration of New Citizens, New Media, Youth Outreach, Collaboration with External Organisations, etc...
The individual constituencies had also completed their 5-year workplan. This was submitted to PA Chairman, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Everyone also celebrated PA's 50th birthday with a Huge Birthday cake!

Besides celebrating PA50, we also celebrated the birthday of our CCC Chairman Mr Sim Wai Chin BBM.
The night was still young for some of us who returned to our Community Club to watch the exciting World Cup match between Argentina and Germany.
