QSTR Business Opportunity

I got to know of this business opportunity through a flyer pasted on a pillar near a bus stop in Tampines.

After getting in touch with the people from QSTR, they sent me a free online manual which would only appear for a limited period of time. The online manual did not reveal much on the operations of the company. It only featured heaps of testimonials from people who have benefited from the programme.

Upon expiration of the online manual, the lady gave me two packages to choose from. S$25 for an online gold manual and video download, and a S$60 for DVD and an offline gold manual. She refused to reveal anything related to the business model. To fulfil my curiousity, I signed up for the S$25 package.

The online gold manual contains information on the current world and the future trend of businesses. After watching the videos and going through the manual, there is a questionnaire to fill up.

When the package expires, an online Skype interview was arranged among myself, the introducer (the person who pasted the flyer) and a mentor. The entire interview lasted for 2 hours.

QSTR is a home-based business. It is a network marketing company, marketing products from Herbalife. I didn't choose to take up this opportunity however, because it requires one to buy the products and consume them. I was asked to buy and eat the pills without knowing the ingredients and effects. And I would need to also buy the pills every month to sustain the account. Not for me...

Update on 9 July 2008: Saw another flyer. This time it's called Systeway Home Based Business System. http://www.systeway.com 62343515. It's also QSTR under a different naming. Take Note!

Update on 13 July 2008: According to a reader who commented on this blog, QSTR also comes in the name of Rich1818.com

Update on 16 July 2008: Saw another flyer at a traffic light. This time the website is www.ccy2u.com . Tel: 62342372. I reckoned that QSTR members uses unique domain names so that when you search it through google, you can only find the site.

Decided to compile all the QSTR sites:

  2. I wouldn't think it's a scam, but it's just a technique of not revealing more to you cuz' they don't want to turn you off so soon by saying they are MLM. :>

Thanks a million Yoong Kheong for revealing what QSTR was all about. I almost make a bank transfer of S$45 for nothing. The lady was very evasive when I asked what's their business model was, example, info products or health supplements but she kept saying she was updating people's banking details and asked me to refer back to that stupid website which was sent to me earlier. IMHO if we are forced to buy something w/out more description, it's plain old scam!

  5. Hi Yoong Kheong

I would agree that the way they do it although it might not be so much of a scam but still they have managed to milk that $25 0r $45 which would have gone to some better usage.
I for one also have had a similar encounter except that when he asked me to pay upfront for the unknown .
Guess what I literally gave him a piece of my mind.
Nonetheless thanks for sharing that this is one of the avenues how Herbalife markets its products.

  10. Dear YK, IDA hasn't respond yet, I'm not sure if they're investigating or my emails are still in queue.

Anyway just for an update, recently one of QSTR members sent such ad to my company's customer service mailbox which got me really agitated. Then I logged in to 88db.com and searched for QSTR, posted negative comments on their ads to warn others.

I'm not really skeptical about MLM but it's just the way their system works with all that secrecy and the most absurd thing is that we gotta pay for it before we can get to know what's really going on so that we can decide whether to carry on or not.

It's really unethical because if the products really work and if it's gonna make money, why would someone say no? The part I hate most is the website they create is specially for IE based on the source code I saw. And with so much cock and bull story they posted on their website but at the end they still didn't get to the point.

I still think their point is getting that $25 or $45 from you is better than nothing. I would rather use this money to buy foods for stray cats and dogs than to invest in such a system which makes me look foolish.

Recently I too received a colored flyer in my letter box about this QSTR Home Based Business System.

I called the number given 62693937 Ext 1123/1168 and found out it's a recorded voicemail. I left my name, address and contact number behind as requested.

Few days later, I received a free info booklet which doesn't tell me anything about the nature of their business.

Later a lady by the name of Audrey Teo contacted me. As I am new to QSTR, I tried to enquire more info about the business.

However, Ms Teo who acting as a coordinator was evasive about telling me anything about the business and told me to call back again when I'm ready to start.

I don't know what's so secret about this business that it can't be shared with any prospective partner before they join the programme. I have to give it a miss as I'm not prepared to start paying for something that I have no freaking idea what it's all about.

I think you have received more than millions of thanks for posting something on QSTR in your blog. For the information of all blog readers and yourself, QSTR has reached Sarawak in East Malaysia and was 'marketed' under this website: www.wowstake77.com For anyone who has received or heard about this website telling you can work from home and earn money, that will be QSTR. So to support YK's contribute in alerting all of the innocent people who are looking for pure opportunity, you know you're wasting your time if you come across this.

You said qstr is better than 2 other company because you work at the comfort of your home and do not need to walk around from house to house and i would definitely agree with that, why?

Because everyday i would receive spam emails to 4 of my email accs from you qstr. Ha ha did you mentioned they provide worldwide training? I think, they guide you people on how to create a simple website and teach people how to spam emails.

You think by spamming is good? If so, then you go ahead but let me warn you. Don't let me catch you, every emails sent to me has been recorded and every links to the website has been recorded as well. I know who are the owners of the website.

  20. Herbalife has been implicated in making false medical claims and also being a pyramid scheme. Mark Hughes (President & CEO) was fined USD850,000.

    http://www.mlmwatch.org/04C/Herbalife/herbalife04.html

I recently was invited to a "work at home and make money" presentation. They won't disclose what is the company name or much details of the business. Only during the presentation they let you know that it is Herbalife. (I found this very sneaky). In the presentation they let us know that Herbalife pays the highest commision in the industry: 73%!!! So they say you will make a lot of commision by doing this business.

But if you think a little deeper and don't get mesmerized by all the money talk, this just means that the cost of the actual product is very cheap. Distributors are conning consumers into buying cheap, inferior products.

Herbalife products have also been implicated with side effects. The FDA has received many complaints from consumers. Herbalife has also been sued and settled out of court.
    http://www.quackwatch.org/search/webglimpse.cgi?ARCHID_6=6&query=complaints

I find them very sneaky and evasive. I wouldn't recommend Herbalife. Not as a business, and not as a healthfood. It is a complete scam.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I believe there are other ways of making money. But definitely NOT from Herbalife.

I recently read this book: "Multiple Sterams of Income" by Robert G. Allen. Pretty good.

In terms of health; was browsing the web, and this site had some good health info:
    http://www.nutrition-info.com

.. the info is free, and it doesn't ask you to buy overpriced supplements like Herbalife.

Anyway the site is IE specific if you use other browser it will not work so be careful not sure if the site will install any malicious app on your machine. Well i would urge all readers if you find their approach and email offensive, please help to escalate the issue by reporting to the relevant authorities so that other innocent and naive person would not be cheated.

Herbalife is prodcuing fake product and make with of human greedy/laziness to make money for them.

Coming out with such system to lure people to make money for them, is definitely unethnical and unforgiven.

But they didn't put a knife on anyone neck to get them to do. If people are lazy to earn money through your own effort and want to "make use" of Herbalife "system". Well, the person will realise they are be used as fishing tool. Their own greed is the worm for their own fish.

  34. If you guys wanna create extra wealth I would suggest you buy a book called "Secrets of Self-made Millionaires" written by the youngest Singaporean millionaire, Adam Khoo. His book doesn't teach you to become rich overnight but some of the stuffs in there guide you to plan your strategy, calculating your personal net worth, etc. Something where most people overlooked. it's a great book and now most of my friends are obsessed with it. It cost about 30 bucks but can be found in the library and borrow for free.

Both sides I would say are investing on a book but would't it be better to buy a book written by someone who is famous and well known rather than just buying a book that contains probably ficitious testimony?

Thank you for sharing your experiences. By doing so you are helping so many of us out there who have gotten the flyer in our post boxes (besides bus-stops). The fact that you have to pay just to learn about what business they are operating is already a big sign of SCAM!

And the big question is why are they so secretive if it is a legitimate business? The fact is before you make your money, they have already made theirs from you.

There are other business opportunities so let's all look elsewhere! And warn our friends & neighbours!

QSTR is a real home-based buisness that teach you how to be sucessful step-by-step. They are 'secretive' because they want to root out the non-serious people and losers like you. There are loads of people who have benefitted from QSTR home-based buisness and are earning tens of thousands each month. Because its a home-based buisness, they are their own boss and don't have to take orders from other people and they don't have to work all through the week as well. These are the advantages of QSTR, you're just too blind to see that. If you don't like QSTR then don't join it, but you don't have to post all this bullshit here about them. The ARE a multi-million company with lawyers that can sue your ass for this.

Hey thanks to the some 'false'MLM, they only knew how to make money in a faster way, but do not know how to maintain a business if you are a real MLM. They had created bad impression or views on the people on MLM. Now in the world there are hundreds of MLM companies, some of them come and go within a few years. But i believe in the starter of this business, that means the creation of MLM. I think the first MLM will have many years of history and i sure they are still 'surviving' compare to others, which may be gone in a one to two years.

  44. Anonymous12:31 PM

Actually all these things, i would say it is up to the individual to choose and what they choose only will bring forth result, or consequences. For myself, i had joined a network marketing company before, and they teach a lot of things. But still, sometimes, we need to believe that we do not belong there.

Just think about it, what will become if everyone said that network marketing is good, and keep joining and forget about their current jobs and go full time? What if all the people in the world is doing this? Then there will be no doctor, no rubbish man to collect the rubbish, no accountants.. The world is just all network marketers..

So conclusion, you choose where you want to be. If MLM, network marketing is suitable for you, then you can try. But i doubt that, as there are more failures than success.

Thanks YoongKheong for your sharing and information.

I agree that there are many ways to recruit some good, some not so good. Network marketing has been misunderstood mainly due to false claims, secretive practices, loading and etc. Noting DSA (Direct Selling Association) would endorse.

However, what I have found to be effective for even the most negative person is to educate them on this industry first with this free movie.

    YK,
you are a professional & good for you for being as objective as can be in your post. Applause to that!!
Great blog you got too. You've experienced so many things in life at this stage where MANY have AND will not bother to!

No matter what readers argue, network marketing IS a PROVEN platform of ethical business / marketing (as some of us who operate from the corporate standpoint (NOT as a distributor) would know), except that it is such a versatile method that it gets manipulated by many for their own unethical personal gain/profit at the distributor level.

If its a rubbish business method:
    - Buffett would not have wasted his public investors' monies by buying up a company selling homewares.
    - The Body Shop (yes THAT Body Shop) would not implement a direct-selling arm in their American market.
    - Taser guns would not be sold via home parties / direct sales?!!

Even pro-business minded companies with very logical / affordable products (like the above) can be converted into a "money scheme" simply by the way certain individuals conduct their promotion of the concept.

    If your readers must know...
recent negative news updates were reported on "that SG company"; at the same time WHILE the industry ALSO held an Official Conference in support of the positive business / personal development side of things right smack in a highly skeptical country like Singapore.

QSTR on the other hand is simply like another Network TwentyOne where they have but no choice to play along anonymously as the names Amway & Herbalife are known far & wide for their activities. Moreover with the usual network marketing type products, prospective customers / distributors would shy away simply based on personal "assumptions" of the products they need to buy OR work need to be done to generate a decent income.
THUS these orgs always tend to focus on promoting "residual income" more than other aspects of their business.

Anonymity surely drives frustrations and clearly that is what many readers vented about above.

Nevertheless, network marketing is a PROVEN business model, where one need only chance upon a logical product / organisation from which to conduct business with -- be it as a consumer or a distributor.

Keep up the good work, YK!

thanks YK for his experience on QSTR and herbal life!

I came searching for answers when I have reached the paying for the online($25) or offline($45) package.

    About my experience:
I saw this flyer pasted on a traffic light post at henderson area while waiting for the pedestrian light to be green. So I write down the link (www.syh75.com) and went to see it, the site contains some testimonials(success ones of course), and phrases and paragraphs that suggests how they will help us get to our(or their) target. They do indicate that QSTR is a marketing plan and they are selling some products from some top 500 companies in US if i remember. And after reading, if we want to continue to know more we will leave our particulars.

(Anyway, the site contains music and will change the theme/colours each time i refreshed it)

I leaved my particulars, and the next day morning a lady call me, confirmed my particulars with a 'great!' or 'good!' and then said will send me an email which will expired in 48 hours. I did not ask any questions to her(Maybe because I was still in sleeping mode since the call disrupted my sleep, haha).

I went to see the email which has a link that will take me to another site. This site contains more success stories from different person with a different background.(Employees which is quite successful in their work/role to business people that has bad experience and are heavily in debt) All of them seems to be chinese from their stated names. After reading finish the link, I come to a page where I will need to decide whether I will want to buy the $25 or $45 training package.

So far, from what I have been reading, I only know that QSTR is a networking plan that helps people to succeed by following their step-by-step planning. I do not know what products are they selling, other than the stated top 500 company products. We do not know how does they work and even the name of the company the product we are going to be involved.

It is then I google "QSTR home based business system" which I found this article.

    My 2 cents:
So far from what I have been reading, this seems very likely to be a MLM, with the 'internet' and 'home' pasted on it. I guess you will recieve their trainings and talks at home through streaming or pre-recorded videos, while about on how to sell their products I am not sure how to do it online.

Frankly, to me I wouldn't think its a scam, its just another business method. Its something that you will have to adjust your thinking from the traditional 9-5 or be-your-own-boss to this new way of doing business.

MLM has its own positive points, 1 being that you will need very little capital to start and will be easy(maybe) to attain the target provided you are to follow their advice. You do not have to work 9-5, because you can work anywhere(that's where home comes in), at any time.

Usually, MLM will ask you to buy the products for yourself 1st, sometimes you will need to keep buying it as the products are used up if it needs to be consumed. This is to let you know about the product, how it works and how it makes you different(healthy) from before using it. And from there you will be selling(or recommending) it to people. Thats the point as I said just now that you can work anywhere, at any time. Because you yourself become a result of what your product has make you, you will then find people to share this great product so that it can enhance their life. You can do this anytime, as long as the other party has the time to listen to you, at any place, be it at their home, or having a meal together.

To me it is completely normal and fine way of doing it. Think of it, if we change the product to say, a movie? or a game? You just saw a great movie, or just played a great game, and you will like to share this with a friend of yours. You tell your friends how great the movie or game is and so on during a gathering session, and then persuade them to see the movie or play the game. Its the same concept, you have become the advertiser for the movie, the game, and in this case, the product you are using.

You will also be recruiting people who also want to succeed, and you will be working together with them to help each other up so as to get to your and their target sooner. Because all the people are you working with also want to succeed and meet their target as you, they will definitely be helping you and inturns you helping out them back so that the target can be reach sooner. Its working together to succeed together.

And lastly plus the benefits if there is any, such as group sales incomes and car benefits, it seems like a good plan.

So far it seems that MLM is a very good business plan right? Well it does has it bad points also.

Lets take QSTR as an example. They tell you that you can make money from home, you go to the website, they tell you to follow them step-by-step and you can succeed, they do not tell you what product are you selling, they do not tell you any plannings yet only until after you have paid them. And I do not know if you will have to pay for any trainings or talks they conducted for you. This makes people suspicious of them, if they are doing a very legal business, what's up with all the sneakiness? I agree if they tell us its MLM we will reject them straight away, but if they do it this way, we will even detest MLM more. There can be other ways of introducing themselves. Or maybe they thought this is the best way, but this will definitely make MLM look like a sneaky business. And 1 more thing, after reading so many success stories and testimonials, why do they still want you? Because they need to expand their market. As you can see, in MLM(and also any other part of business) people are the most valuable assets, thats what keep the money going around. So by you joining, their products will not only be spread to you, but to your family, your relatives, your friends, and then spread through them, to their family, their relatives, their friends...and so on, it will just keeps expanding.

2nd is the products, yes they may be able to enhance people's health, and sold at a very interesting price. Why that price? Its direct sales, they do not go through shops and advertisements or media to reach us, it is brought to us by the person selling to us. It means the price will be cheaper because of no advertisements fees and stuffs. I think its half correct. You do know that MLM has commissions right? Some even offers up to 50% commission for each products sold. Thats right, if you bought a product at say $1000, $500 will be going to that person selling to you the product, and of course the product company will need to earn as well, and other small stuff. Plus minus maybe in the end the product is around $100-200? Thats right, so in the end you are buying a $100-200 product at a $1000 price point. And you thought that its at the cheapest price because of no advertisment fees and such. Thats where the problem comes in, because if you buy a product from a shop, you know its that price because they will need to profit it to maintain their shop. But if the person selling the product tells you its cheaper because of no such advertisement fees, its not, you are in turns paying for his commission, which he is not telling you. If he says its only 3-5%, well he is still not being honest, its because the person recruiting him will take more, all the way to the highest guy/girl who will be also be taking the most commission. As said earlier, MLM has alot of incentive and benefits for their workers, like holiday trips, car incentive, residual incomes, sales incomes and so on...where does all the money come from? I guess you should know by now.

Ok, I think that should be about it. So in the end you might also feel if MLM is a good business plan? Every business plan has its goods and bads, be it working 9-5 or be your own boss, and MLM is definitely not perfect either.

Lets look at it this way, if you will to be in a MLM business, you are selling products, you are recruiting people to work together and sell products with you, who will you look for? If you have found a great product that can enhance your life, who will you share it with? The 1st group I think will definitely be your family and relatives. Imagine bringing the product back to your family home or relatives house and then started talking about the product, telling them how it is and then persuading them to buy it. The next group will be your close friends, which you will start to share about the product and maybe the planning with them if you are recruiting them.

So you will be spreading about the product and then planning to people you know, and if they believe it, they will spread again, all by the word of mouth. Your family and relatives become your customers, you will be asking them how does it felt when using the product, and maybe asking them to take more as it is good for them, your friends become your partners or colleagues and each time your meetings or gatherings will be how to increase your sales and how to recruit more people.

You yourself will always be thinking on how to increase sales and recruiting more people, and that will make you think of people, even your friends and families, as valuable assets to you(Which is true actually).

Oh ya, and about the success stories? I felt it is true, those people already made it, but they really have took a rough ride before they found their partners, and other much setback before reaching their success. And for the 10-20 success stories you read, that are about 100-300, maybe 500 has already give up on it, and maybe another 500-1000 or more will be struggling or making their way up. Its really not easy to get up there, you really have to believe in yourself and your product. Its the same for other business also.

Based on the above 4 paragraphs, i can say yeap, its a turning point of your life. QSTR site also stated it, its true. Its up to you whether if you want to change your thinking and adapt your life to this business plan.

    Conclusion:
In the end, its up to you whether if you feel MLM is good or not.

    2 things:
Are you happy with your current financial situation and with your work, be it a 9-5 or your-own-boss business plan?

Are you willing to give up your current lifestyle and change it as the above described?

If the above 2 anwsers is yes, I will say you can give MLM a try. Its not a good or bad thing, its up to how you think it is, if you believe it and its products, then you may succeed. But it will be a rough ride, but which business plan doesn't? To succeed, you will have to sacrifice a lot, no matter which way you took.

Anyway, how do I know about MLM, because I had being in one, make it almost there, saw the whole thing(Maybe not the whole), felt that I can't be doing this, and let go of it. :)

    Sorry for long post.

    Anyway, thanks to YK again!

    Hi YK,

Thanks for your blog, i was searching for QSTR before i sign, and found your entry.

Luckily, i made a search, as i was informed the lady informed me it is a advertising magazine company.

  54. Anonymous3:30 PM

Not sure if this is a scam yet but one thing for sure, the lady whom I spoke to put me off and the business questionable! A lady who claimed to be a mentor called me after I have read the booklet and watched the video I paid for. I asked her questions which she either couldn't answer or couldn't understand. A question I asked was beside the $400 start up cost, would there be any future cost. I just needed to know 'yes' or 'no'.She avioded answering the question by saying every business needed start up cost, which I already know. After pressing futher, she ended saying she couldn't understand the question. Many questions I asked, her reply was either 'I cannot answer your question' or 'I don't think I need to answer your question'. Worst of all, this so called mentor was totally rude and detestable. The tone she used sounded like a military officer dicipling a comrade. Totally no manners, unfriendly and lacks human skills. The business brag about its mission of helping others and love beyond boundary but it totally did not reflect in the way she handled. Confirming that it was all nonsense, I could have just hung up but I decided to give her a piece of my mind. I critised her lack of manners, phone and communications skills and the way she sounded like she was being force to do her job. My conclusion is all the goodness of the business could be true but the way they do it is totally wrong. No transparency and no basic human skills. They claimed that they want ppl with the right attitude but I think what they look for are people who just simply obey, pay up and don't ask questions.

I'm looking for a job this morning and happened to call to 3 different jobs saying "wk fr home, with computer at hm etc"

The webby above i've visited seemed to be similar.. and i've called up the guy for more details. He told me is just doing mail order, internetworking etc. After browsing the QSTR rich booklet, I find things not very right. Went to search in google and found this blog.. is this what you all are discussing about?

  57. For all these comments on this blogs. I just want to ask a few simple questions:

    1. So what do everybody know about QSTR except for all these shallow information posted on the internet?

    2. About Herbalife, what do u know this company apart from all the negative news?

    3. Has anybody in this comments attended any of their physical events involving HUNDRED thousands of people around the whole entire world?

Why people failed in life? Its all becoz of people like to read negative news and refuse to look at the positive sides of things.

Look at Bill Gates, Warren Buffets, John C Maxwell, Senator Obama, Martin Luthur King Jr etc! All these successful people, they all have a common focus which is look at the positive sides of things.

    For genuine information click below:

    http://www.myherbalife.com
    http://www.herbalife.com
    http://www.lagalaxy.com

There are many marketing methods all around the entire world. Successful people do it first before they see it. Unsuccessful people will see it 1st before they believe.

World Renown Business Phlosopher Jim Rohn says: For things to change you got to change, for things to get better, you got to get better.

If you are not ready to change, stay exactly where you are and work hard. One day you will be successful in your field.

If you are ready to change, congratulations, QSTR system is an opportunity for you.

If this going to be MLM, then i dont think i wanted to sign up. Myself is already a memeber of MLM selling FLP (Aloe), but i just use the products then selling. Nice products to me. :)

Their company is at Chinatown just besides the Apollo, near MRT, very reliable. If you are interested of buying their Aloe Products can let me know. :)

Damn I almost got conned! Almost submitted my particulars until it hit me that it could be a scam. Maybe not a scam but a MLM style of making money. It's like, we sign up then we buy their products, then learn how to create a website of our own to market these products that we buy, next we get people to buy the products from us via the same way, they will then create a new website of their own to market their products and buy products from us and this will go on and on and on.

Anyway, this may not seem appropriate to majority of us but it is indeed a strategy to make money. It's still up to individuals to judge and choose to follow or not. Just make sure if you set up to earn money, make sure you earn money! God bless.

Well come to think of it is really true if Herbalife products are not that fantastic then why did LA Galaxy soccer players and even David Beckham are sponsored and consumed the products. There must be something great about this company and not even LA Galaxy is being sponsored by Herbalife but there are also many international sport icons like Miwa Asao famous beach volleyball player and even the coming Beijing Olympic players. Well i would suggest for those that have not yet given yourself the chance to find out more before commenting please do so, is just being fair to yourself and to the respective company.

Well i would not think is a scam cos if it is then i actually got the package thru courier. And in the package there are listed consultant and legal advisor supporting this system. Well if you think you cant even afford a $45 or $25 to invest in this business, then how about those traditional biz that going to invest much much more from $20,000 to $1 Million dollars and no one is going to teach you your next steps which is going to be worse. Come on have a boss mindset.

Thanks for sharing. But i can say QSTR, is not fully a scam...but it is giving us hints of life. Like the owner of this blog, you re putting so many advertisement on your blog and the reason is, whoever that click on that advertisement, you will get a credit. Correct?

People need to work smart but not work hard. I m tired with my working life, everyday, wake up in the morning, prepare myself for work and meeting. Herm...wonder, do i really wanna have this kind of life for my entire life till the age of 60 years old. I wonder, do i really have long life to stay up to 60 years old to enjoy my retirement.

Online marketing...is not a scam, is juz a business, where human could do shopping online. QSTR, provided classes and training for ppl who re interest, and currently, on earth, nothing is free. Everything that you re doing, you have to pay for it. They din force you, they juz giving u some hints that, u could find another way to get extra income. I could say, may b, they had use a wrong way to intro this system to others. They should not hide or make ppl curious about the system.

Besides that, there are many people success in the business too? They are not a story that make up by them, it is juz a sharing for others. People who re having a blur vision of this system, i feel, it is better that, you understand it by yourselves. Cause, this blog might be a scam or somebody that trying to giving bad comment to QSTR...or may b, he is just a person, that wanna make QSTR sound terrible. Who knows.... Nobody can be trusted, except yourselves. And plus, like wat i say, currently, most of the people, din do things for free, they will do something to get something.....

Human that pass by here, leave a msg here....will help this owner to get some credit. Do you think about that too?

    ReplyDelete
  77. From the Author (to "nobody"):

No where in the blog did I mention that QSTR is a scam. Blogging is about sharing experience. As you can see from my title, "My Encounters, My Life", I'm merely covering that.

In my blog, I mentioned that I found the flyer pasted at a bus-stop. I would later find more of them at traffic lights, outside lifts, etc. How does a company function if it is so driven by the numerous vandalism it causes? And so I wonder.

"Human that pass by here, leave a msg here....will help this owner to get some credit. Do you think about that too?"

Yes, of course! I benefit from getting readers to my blog and some revenue from advertisements. But it's FREE. It doesn't cost you to come and leave my blog. It's your choice whether to read the ads.

Did QSTR offer transparency so that we can understand how it works? Not on any page of the websites given. Therefore, let me do the job. Why? Because people need to know what they are paying for.

At least my ads are labelled as ads by Google. The many people that walked past the QSTR flyers didn't know that it is a MLM business. Neither do they know that they have to pay to know more and then further on pay again to consume pills.

Thank you for your contribution to this blog

Put it this way, lets say you saw this ugly girl and straight away u shun her off becoz of her outlook, the next moment she turn into a stunning beauty, well..... a lesson learnt, don judge the book by its cover.

Btw, most Singaporeans knows nuts about MLM. Malaysians knows too much about MLM. But what is MLM? In my humble opinion, Business Opportunity for those who sees it. Its the 21st century only chance for average people to make a fortune if they work very hard. Those who failed are those that work not so hard, or did not even work at all. MLM is hard work. Want easy life, go find a job and work under a boss.

The people of the system are so warm and friendly, i have learnt so much on how to work from home during the 2 days trainings. And how to build an overseas business from the comfort of my home.

    Yoong Kheong and all

Beware of another MLM that teaches u to make money by flexing your fingers. SMTM.. it sounds so EAST.. but it doesn't sell anything.

The whole deal is, u pay money upfront.. US500+, and u get others to pay to join, you take commission from the amount that they pay.

So.. what is the product? NOTHING!! You are just getting people to pay to come in, and pay those people who are above you.

    Anyways, my search continues.

  93. Hi Anonymous, I gotta agree with what you've said. In fact this has been around for many years and most of these originate from the US.

They claimed that it's legitimate but in fact it's bullshit.

They setup their website with contents that look similar to QSTR (do not be mistaken cos QSTR has real products but these sites don't). They persuade you to sign up with promises to work from home and earn a residual income by just paying a fee to start.

So after paying, they'll email an instruction booklet to you showing how to create a similar website like theirs and wait for the next bait.

It's just that simple, imagine if you paid $500 for that booklet and did as you were told, then if 5 dummies saw your site and did the same like you did, you simply earn $2k without selling anything!!

A very good day to whoever reading my posting.

I had read all the positive and negative comments.

First of all, I totally disagree that QSTR is a SPAM/SCAM not because I am one of the Independence Distributor (ID) in QSTR.

Well, maybe to those may think/believe that QSTR cannot be trusted or so call "CHEATER" after reading some many comments due to the way/method we did. Those whom received call from other IDs should recall them asking are you serious in this business, 6 Dreams etc because we are looking for serious, teachable, knowing what your dreams are and willing to learn step by step. So that you will not be working for others and got chances for Retrenchment, sacked etc. We also do not want to waste each other time because everyone "TIME IS PRECIOUS".

Lets' refresh our memory when we are in primary school. When we are in Primary one, are we taught about primary two, PSLE, Secondary one, GCE 'N' or 'O' level lesson? No right? Or maybe I use another example. Before you know how to drive a car. What do you learn first? Starting an engine of vehicle, moving and stopping a car, driving on a straight road, reverse parking, parallel parking etc. everything is step by step right? Couldn’t be learning everything within one day and pass within 1 day right?

Agreed that the way we did is "Secretive". In 2006, I was once a negative person similar to some of the negative comments. Course everything is step by step. I was also told to name out all the 6 dreams. Which I found it "VERY STUPID" ! What the hell does my "DREAMS" related to this business? I was also told to pay $25/$45 for the package. Which I also found it very "SECRETIVE" and afraid that being cheated. I was cheated once by one of the MLM (E-Credit Mastercard) for more than $10K and hard a very hard time in 2004 where I did not received anything at all from that stupid company but Debts to many banks. But compare $45 to $10K. What is $45 to $10K being cheated?? I then transferred the $45 to the bank account given to me and received the DVDs and a manual (similar to some of the comments). Slowly after I get into this business, I consumed the products and learn about Mark Hughes’s real life story, learned how this business work and understand “Whys” we are doing so “SECRETIVE”. As I mentioned before. STEP BY STEP. By the way, this is a Step By Step Home Base Business System. Not a Job.

We have to confirm if you are one of the teachable, reset mindset to zero, willingly to learn step by step etc. As I mention before, "TIME IS VERY PRECIOUS". Not that we want to earn money from the $25/$45. Don forget, you get something from the $25/$45. Not nothing right? Of course, we will not waste each other previous time if you are not the one.

Till now, I believe some will agreed with me and some will say I am stupid to have step into the trap or had gone crazy. I remember in early 2000, one of the ministers in Singapore did say that you can only get RICH when you work in the Marketing Line. Let me ask all of you, If you are working for other people maybe in big company. Maybe you will get rich by working in the big company. How about those who are not highly educated? By earning 1K plus per month and deducted CPF, bills etc. How much they left? Don’t forget about the stupid 7% GST, Income Tax etc. everything in Singapore is Pay And Pay. Even if you are in the G sector. If you are an officer, good for you. Course most of your contact are up to age of 45 at least. End of contact, you will at least receiving a minimum $300K. But now mentioning about specialist. First 10 yrs contact, starting at age 18 to 20 yrs old. By the time you completed your first contact, how old are you? Let say 28 yrs old. Still young and able to find job outside if sector do not offer you any more contact. If Sector going to give another contact till you reach age of 55. Good for you. But if Sector going to give you another 6 years contact and you accept it. By the time you completed, age about 34 to 36. Are you able to find a job outside so easy as you are below 30 yrs old? Even if you received the amount they save for you, abt $20K plus, how long can it last? Don’t forget Nothing in this world is free !! Don tell me when you are born to this world is FREE !!?? So whatever you do, THINK TWICES. Believe yourself than believe in others. At least you learned your mistake than pushing the blame to other people.

From some of the comments, saying that this is a MLM. By the way, can answer me what is MLM? What is SCAM? What is SPAM? @ qstrhbbs1@yahoo.com.sg

In Singapore right now, Prudential Agents, AIA Agents, Property Agent, Banks etc, which of the above mentioned not using marketing method? Even now in school are teaching marketing.

To believe or not to believe, depend on you. But don get influent by other people. You can learn from their advice but need not to believe 100%.

    Remember Successroad mentioned?

“There are many marketing methods all around the entire world. Successful people do it first before they see it. Unsuccessful people will see it 1st before they believe.

World Renown Business Phlosopher Jim Rohn says:
For things to change you got to change, for things to get better, you got to get better.

If you are not ready to change, stay exactly where you are and work hard. One day you will be successful in your field.

If you are ready to change, congratulations, QSTR system is an opportunity for you.”

Thank you for your time reading. By the way, this blog I found quite interesting. Can see so many follower to a stranger. Especially this young fellow, Yoong Kheong, For sharing, your mindset to QSTR is that you are not interested in the business. (Maybe you are in another marketing line, who knows?) You were told to consume the pills which you do not know the ingredients and effects. By the way, not that you don know. Is that you are not attentive. Everything is in the package. You did not read and understand the manual given to you. Even if you are going into another marketing line, you will be told to do the same thing.

Let say banking. If you are going to promote CPF investment which you are not investing, do you think your customer will invest from you? From me, no. Why should I invest if you are not investing. Which mean you have no confident in investment. Since you have no confident, why must I invest with a no confident banker right?

    YK, you mentioned that this blog is;

Yes, you are sharing. You did not mention that QSTR is a scam/spam. But I notice that this blog about QSTR is more like complaints, criticize, telling people to stay away from QSTR than sharing individual experience. So hope that after my sharing, the next one leaving comment is really sharing.

    Thank you.

    To believe yourself,

Agreed to your comment. Always believe in yourself and take other people words as an advice but no need to follow completely. Think Twcies before doing anything is the most important selection in our life.

Whether to accept or not to accept this QSTR "so call opportunity" is up to individual choice. Since from some of the comment saying is good, why not giving it a try? If it is really a scam or spam, then treat it as a lesson learned.

Frankly speaking, nowaday in Singapore, everything got to try. If not, how you know are you or are you not capable for this business right ?

  97. Hi everyone. Reading all your comments made me remember how I had transformed in life. When I was in my early teens and 20's I was like most young people who were weak minded. I was a pessimist. But as I matured I realise, no point being negative. It only attracts more negativity. A simple question. Do you like being around a persons who is always complaining and grumpy all the time? You see them almost everywhere, right? People tends to avoid them. Everyone wants to be around cheerful happy 'kakis', right? So if you always say, do or think negative stuff, try to change for the better. After being a pessimist, I became an optimist. But I later learnt than sometimes not everything turns out right, right? So now I become a realist.
So lets be realistic about some of the things that were mentioned here. As you all know, not all things said on the internet may be real. We have to be discerning. There's lots of propaganda out there. The best way of knowing anything is to hear it from the "horse's" mouth, right?
I'm in my forties now after going thru lots of jobs, professions in life looking for that break to strike it rich. Isn't that what everyone's looking for? After working since 1980 I've learnt that you can't really get rich being an employee, right? Out of so many employee of an org. how many can make it to the top to earn that kind of money for a comfortable future/old age? The rest will have to slog it out and realistically work for the rest of their lives. Most people don't have enough when they retire to live on till the day they leave mother earth, right? Seriously do your sums guys and gals. Look around you. I've seen lots of old folks collecting cardboard boxes, cans, selling tissues, cleaning tables, toilets etc... Very sad. You get what I'm trying to say.?
I was retrenched at age 40. Couldn't get a decent job for 9 months even with 5 diplomas with 4 mouth to feed. Have you read all the news about the market situation in the world? Let's be realistic now, no job is secured nowadays and the future really look bleak, at least for most employees.
Yes, I admit that I joined QSTR. It was a choice never to be regretted. The only regret was that I should have joined earlier. At least QSTR gave me hope of a better future as compared to getting a job. So what's wrong with MLM or even with what QSTR has to offer?
You hang out with positive people. You help people get healthy thru the products. And this is the best, I get a chance to help others who were like me -struggling in their jobs, retrenched, trapped in the rat race, etc.... Look around you. Do you see all these happening? You can't blame the employers. They got their hands full trying to keep their business afloat with the rising cost - wages, rent, supplies etc... So, retrenchment may be a way to keep their companies going.
Let me ask everyone here some questions. Before you join any company do you ask the interviewer how they conduct their business, what are their secret to their success, how exactly they operate or run their businesses? No business in their right mind will tell you their business secret or exactly how they run their businesses, right? QSTR is also a business. So, how can they tell you exactly how the business is run? Would a famous eg. Katong Laksa owner tell you their secret ingredient? No way, right? So I don't understand what's the fuss is all about. Its already mentioned that it's a home business, duh...? Business! What do you understand about running a business? In order for a business to survive you either sell a product or provide a service in exchange for money, right? A business survives on profits, right? Of course you will be taught about the business only when you join any company, right? No business man will teach anybody before they become their employee, right? So, why by not telling anybody QSTR's business secrets, it is deemed to be scheming, unethical, scam etc... Let's be realistic.
As for the $25/$45. I have tried to join may online businesses etc... They all demand that you pay up first before you join. Do your research. There lots of it out there. It's a new marketing strategy that most businesses are adopting. I also joined one for $99.90. What I got was some CD's. Just some simple internet marketing concepts on how to make money online. Ebay, ebooks, online surveys etc... then you're on your own. Needless to say I failed miserably. There were hardly any support, trainings, guidance etc.. You just got to use your own initiative to run your business. How many people were drawn to these? I don't know. QSTR provides personal mentoring, Online training materials, live online/offline training classes etc.... until you succeed. Once you join QSTR you will not be left to you own accord. Isn't this worth it?
Yoong Kheong, your posting about having to buy pills every month is wrong. You don't need to have a quota every month to continue with the business. Actually, since you have not joined or learnt about how exactly QSTR runs it's business, I can safely say that you can't really comment on it, right? How can you talk about something that you don't actually know about? Where's the credibility? Just like I can't comment about how eg. the Singapore government runs. I'm not an MP sitting in PAP. I don't know how they run a town council etc.. So how can I comment on it, right?
Actually lots of people are thanking you for supposedly exposing QSTR as a scam but did you really asked yourself whether you really know about QSTR before posting it in your blog. Let's be realistic. You have done a disservice more than a service.
It's really sad to see all the negative comments. We at QSTR are trying to help others but are mistaken to be otherwise. So many negative and naive people out there.
Hope what I've mentioned help clear up doubts and not offend anyone. Just trying to state what's realistic. That's all. Cheers everyone.

    To The Realist,

Good point mention by you. I like your sharing. From my sharing, i am just sharing what i am facing now. As i am a Specialist in the G-Sector. My contact is ending soon and G is offering me another 6 yreas short term contact which i found it very risky to accept it.

Good point is that i will have a secure pay from another six years.

Bad point is that after completed the six years contact and G is not offering any more contact to me, by then i will have a very hard time from $3k salary down to $1K plus per month. Everything start from ZERO.

My sharing to ALL is to think twice.

    To All,
Don't judge a book by the cover. You will never knnow the content.

Thanks, Yoong Kheong, for your blog. You've just helped QSTR to filter out the weaker minded people. In any business people must see and seize the opportunity and believe in themselves, then they can be successful. You've just deprived many people from even the desire to see for themselves what this business has to offer. That's great, because I don't think the business-minded people will like to work with the weaker-minded people who just take your words and many other negative comments for the real thing.

i knew its not right when she keep calling me, lucky the oni true thing i gif them is my hp number.

anyway im looking at passive income more from stocks, UT, FD, CFD instead, rather then MLM.

if any guys who are keen to know more about investment can email me at jacky.lifeisgreat@hotmail.com

learn how to make reasonable income from SG market for the next 3 - 5 yr when market recovers

    cheers~ i hate MLM

    ReplyDelete
  110. Anonymous9:23 PM

the email was incorrect. the correct one would be jacky.lifeisgreat@live.com.sg

MLM seems more of 'a way out' for the less educated individuals who are stuck inbetween rising living cost and low salary. But most MLM company prey on these group of ppl, middle age group and those with less then 3 'O' levels credits.

if anyone want to survive in SG, simple, invest, anyone can invest.

The basic need to invest is to -:
    a) hedge against inflation (5%-7%)
    b) financial independence
    c) financial freedom

Most of the people are happy with just a) so their lifestyle will not decrease due to rising cost. Those with more capital would be able to go for b). But c) is the easiest to get to. Example if your fixed expenses is 1k a mth, and passive income gives you 1k a mth, you're financially free, retired.

So the point is how to get that passive income to fund your expenses?

    1) property rental - married couple normal can have their 1st asset (property) after 5 yrs giving them a passive income.

    2) learn to protect, save and invest - if you cant protect what you own, its not yours. If you need capital to invest, save up while your employed. When you got the capital and know-how, try it out.

    3) Join MLM - risk losing your friends, and all your capital. I rather put 10k in a blue chip then in a MLM company and try to earn that 10k back.

Investment is easy, afew sure-work way actually, and actually very boring. Learn about risk management and hedging against risk.

Investment is the only one to make a person rich or poor, not MLM.

If you dont invest, your saving are 'eaten' up by inflation and such. If you dont invest, prepare to work till old age and die poor. If your dont invest, your next few generation will be poor unless one make the diff.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Anonymous9:30 PM

    email jacky.lifeisgreat@live.com.sg

    con't from above

what MLM said about the inflation and such are TRUE, but joining them would be seeking your own distruction and benefit your upline/s.

should you want to learn more about investment and financial planning, drop me a mail.

Market will recover 3 - 5 yrs time, the question is if are you in or out. I am looking at at least 10% annualized return over 5 yrs, meaning 50% return at least from your capital. Might be more depending on the market. Some may view it as very little but hey, its passive income. You didnt work for it. Your money work for you.

And if your keen to learn about investment, I can show u a sure way of making money from the market. SO far my client are sheltered from the financial storm since last Nov and their max loss is at most 10%, but those are the aggressive investor who can tolerate up to 25% loss. My own portfoilo, which consist of 3 funds are profiting, despite the current market.

This is happening in Asia as well. I’m in Singapore, got call from Thomas Castle Maganement introducing Additron Techonologies on it’s Coal-to-Liquid technology…..they call you on different occassion,1st a Junior exec, than their Manager, then they get another guy thier Allocation Officer (who claim that he’s independent person to ensure no fraud…)After you remit, they stop calling you, than sometime later some gys from Davis Mayer Group would call & said that Thomas Castle has appointed them as their transfer agent….they would tell you that a Mutual Fund has agreed to buy 5milion @ $21 each & you being their investor get to buy at $4 each & in 4 week thime you would be getting back money at $21/share. These guys are Pros, they are very good at perstering people & they are well informed…. They keep telling you stories to ask you to remit more money to them. Beware… Is there any way to get back the initial $ ? I have doubts, any other victims in Singapore or Asia , pls share your case….

  120. Thanks YK for the information.
I nearly paid for the $45 trying to know what is it about.

I got very suspicious and self-aware that they aren't giving out much information about themselves and what products etc.
I mean cmon, they say it is a work from home business where you deal with emails, mail order and telecommunications, but you cannnot give out information like what sort of things to send, to order? Kind of crappy.

At the first look it may seems interesting to people who are trying to make more money. But on the other hand, if the QSTR company is being more honest and trueful, they should give out people more information about what he/she will be doing instead of trying to get people to pay for introduction, start up cost.

It is just too secretive, and doesn't give people the right feeling to get started. IMO they should be more open to it and attract those who are really interested in that line instead of trying to cheat people for their curiosity.

Once again, thanks YK for giving out the information. You had made the first step to help others who really need it =)

Hi, thanks very much for all this stuff you wrote about what QSTR actually is. My mom saw an ad in the Sing tao newspaper about earning $999/week and she got really interested and told me to go on their site. I went on their site (www.money5888.com) and I couldn't even find a description of what their company actually is. It seemed like the stuff on their site kept on going around in circles forever. >_> And so i decided to search on google to see if I could find any info about them and i found your site. Thank you once again! Or else my mom would have signed up x_x

At first i received an email about this fantastic way to make $45000 working at home. The first thing when I received such email is ITS A SCAM!

I played along and submitted a form with fictituous address and my handphone number( i was itching to find out more).

She called and later sent me a 'booklet' which iam supposed to finish reading by 15/3/09. My immediate reaction to that is - DEFINTELY A SCAM, I am too street smart to such a no brainer scam.

I received the booklet which i didnt bothered to read, and replied to HOMEBASED88.COM that I am asking CAD to investigate their operations.

Well, i just received a call from a woman today. She did managed to catch my curiousity by saying that this business is only for those who are serious on being successful. Of course, i read the information that she has sent me. It was stated that the information needs to be read within 24 hours, i was thinking " wow, so serious, maybe it is true". Than, i read the information very seriously, and i am quite disappointed. I am not saying that QSTR is a scam but i was wondering why the information provided only revovles about the success of the ones that chose to believe in it? Shouldn't they provide a more detailed information on what this system is all about? Thus, i have decided to check this up. Than, i found this blog, there are lots of negative comments about it and some positive comments, i dont know which one to believe! But one thing that scares me out is a source that is provided by one of the person who comment on QSTR. I have read the source of information and it scares me out when the review said that you are required more and more in order to be success. Come on, this is going to kill me! I am just a stduent with no income! How can i go about doing that!!! Thus, i put off the idea of trying it at all! Tomorrow, the lady will call me up again, i will try to ask her questions but if she is trying to evade most of my questions, i think i will give up. I think i should focus on studying affilate marketing. Thanks for information given.

  136. Herbalife products are impressive, but distributors need a better way to brand their individual businesses. A free gift to customers and prospects would help.

Thanks for your blog, Yoong Kheong. Your experience has also saved me $25 as I was prepared to pay for it due to curiosity. These MLM companies are getting smarter all the time, trying to earn some bucks even before you buy their products. I shall inform my friends about this. God bless you, Yoong Kheong!

Thank you very much for all your feedback...I was all ready to part with S$25 to find out what it was. I am against selling consumables because I myself don't know what the ingredients are, but I thought I might just pay to find out more about the business. Now your blog has just confirmed for me that this is NOT for me.

About QSTR, heard now they change there name to Central system, but is still the same, so dont get cheater again. They 1st ask you to pay $45 for physical or $25 for online, then later was ask to invest $400 then they arrange another stupid online call on skype with another mentor and they ask you to become a Supervisor in Herbalife and invest another $6000 plus (alot hur...) not yet end... they ask you to invest like website, materials etc... and dont forget the training... events... etc... there is never end, and if you dont go for all this event and training, they will say you wont succeed... lar..blar...blar.. or brain damage... what the hell is this. so dont believe in QSTR.

    YK.
Thanks for sharing with everyone. As far as I am concerned, genuine work from home wud not ask you to pay first. US has a lot of real work from home, too bad it is for US residents only. Todate, I have yet to find a legit one in Malaysia

  143. i dun understand why they have the gut to put tear note on the lift door. SO to me, must it shouldnt be illegal. Or people shd have call the police. Anyway, the lady called and ask her is it legal, she say YES. But she doesnt know the details. If she doesnt know, why is she doing it?

THe booklet is just stories with photos that we didnt even know if they jus download from google.

So i did google about this web, and thank god i found your blog!

THe company is merely there to earn the video and online fees.....

    sucks!
